Full Formula Breakdown

Base damageBase = Total ATK × skill multiplier / 100. A 2200 ATK hit at 250% gives 5,500 base before any bonuses.
DMG bonus multDMG bonus mult = 1 + attribute DMG% / 100. Elemental and skill-type bonuses add together here.
Deepen multDeepen mult = 1 + deepen% / 100. Amplify and Deepen buffs form their own multiplier, separate from DMG bonus.
Crit averageCrit avg = 1 + (crit rate/100) × (crit dmg/100). Crit rate is capped at 100% in the model.
DEF multiplierDEF mult = (charLv + 80) / ((charLv + 80) + (enemyLv + 80) × (1 - defIgnore)). Higher enemy level lowers it.
RES multiplierRES mult = 1 - res% / 100. Positive resistance reduces damage; negative resistance amplifies it.
Final averageFinal = Base × DMG bonus × Deepen × Crit avg × DEF mult × RES mult, then multiplied by hits.

💡Practical WuWa DPS Tips

Crit ratio tip: Wuthering Waves rewards a rough 1 rate to 2 damage line. If crit damage far outruns crit rate, swap an echo substat toward rate so the crit-weighted average keeps climbing.
Multiplier stacking tip: Attribute DMG and Deepen live in separate multipliers, so stacking one buff from each bucket usually beats piling everything into a single bonus that already has diminishing returns.

There you stand, over a Tacet Discord in Wuthering Waves, with your fingers hovering above screen, waiting to let loose what appears to be a devastating combo on paper. You’ve got a weapon you grinded for hours, shiny echoes, and maxed-out stats. When damage numbers come up, however, it’s disappointing. The boss’ health bar hardly blinks.

Every player has been through this frustrating cycle before. You’re doing all the right things, the math just doesn’t seem to compute. Most builds gets stuck at this gap between results and effort.

How to Deal More Damage in Wuthering Waves

Most importantly, it’s not just a question of raw attack power. It’s also a matter of how that interact with under-the-hood multipliers. Yes, total ATK form the base. This is what scales up with the skill multiplier. However, as soon as you go above baseline, diminishing returns sets in stronger than many people anticipate.

Why else would it be important to understand relationship between crit damage and crit rate? If you focus too much on one over the other, you’ll eventually lose momentum. This calculator will do math for you. The argument from critics say that getting high crit damage is always worth it, even if it means sacrificing crit rate. It makes sense up to soft cap. At forty percent crit rate, you’re skipping half of your possible spikes. It’s nearer to one-to-two where the sweet spot are. Go for two hundred ten percent crit damage and go for seventy percent crit rate.

It sounds arbitrary, but that’s how math works. At this point, one extra percent of crit rate give more expected value then an additional percent of crit damage. Consistency matter just as much as those spikes do.

And then there is defense: the barrier created by enemies. Here the level discrepancy is something many casual player don’t think about. You’re fighting level ninety monsters? And so is your character? Your effective damage has just been halved based off defense multiplier alone. It isn’t a bug; that’s how game balances its endgame content. Can’t get past their armor? Looking at the enemy’s percent resistance is smarter than grinding out an extra five points of attack.

Some echoes slice right through defenses, others simply ignore them. Knowing what to use for what task saves time and tears. The way that attribute damage bonus operate differs from player expectation. Instead of making existing effects stronger, they are independent multipliers that stay in their own multiplier bucket. And that’s your friend. Because stacking attribute damage doesn’t shares space on the same bar as other stats, you get clean returns.

The page has a reference table that explain this. You’ll notice that multiplying a strong base by a modest bonus compound over time. It’s small, but it matters deeply in long run. The deepening mechanics are icing on the cake. Beyond raw damage increases, they’re an additional multiplier based off your starting damage. Don’t expect to deepen if your initial damage is low. You must build up a strong base before you can use them.

After that point though, amplifying effects is ridiculously powerful. They could of make good shots into excellent shots without needing more drops. Wuthering Waves isn’t so much a “how many” question as it is one of trade-offs. There’s no way to be max on all fronts. So if you can figure out what is keeping your build down, then focus on fixing it while not disrupting anything else.

What about echoes? What about weapons? Look at the entire equation and keep making tweaks. You’re only as good as lowest multiplier in your DPS. With that mentality, the numbers will follow suit.
