💡Practical Tips

Use the exact offset for each timestamp. Fixed offsets do not automatically know daylight saving time, so choose UTC-04:00 instead of UTC-05:00 when the recorded event used daylight time.
Use forward mode for overnight clocks. If a shift starts at 22:00 and ends at 06:00 on the same entered date, forward mode moves the end to the next day.
Business hours are window overlap, not elapsed hours. A Friday 16:00 to Monday 10:00 span can be 66 elapsed hours but only 2 business hours on a 09:00-17:00 Monday-Friday schedule.
Keep signed mode for troubleshooting. A negative result is often helpful when comparing logs, imports, automation runs, or any sequence where order matters.

How the Time Calculator Works
