⚙How The Math Works

Current levelYour total XP is compared against the cumulative XP table. Your level is the highest tier whose XP floor you have already passed.
XP to next levelXP to next = cumulative XP for (current level + 1) − your total XP. At level 50 there is no next level.
XP to targetXP to target = cumulative XP for the target level − your total XP. A value of 0 means you have already reached that target.
Effective daily XPDaily XP is your entered rate. With a Lucky Egg toggle on, the effective rate is doubled to model a 2× XP session.
Days to targetDays = XP to target Ă· effective daily XP, then rounded by your chosen rule. Real levels 41–50 also need research tasks.

💡XP Grinding Tips

Lucky Egg tip: A Lucky Egg doubles all XP for 30 minutes. Stack it with a mass evolve session or a friendship opening to squeeze the most XP out of every action in that window.
Friendship tip: Opening a Best Friend gift grants 100,000 XP, and 200,000 XP with a Lucky Egg. Timing several friendships to reach Best Friend on the same day is one of the fastest XP boosts in the game.

How long until I hit next level on Pokemon GO? The excitement of that new badge can’t be denied. But what exactly do you have to do to earn it? Where does your effort go? More XP. A number to aim at makes that a goal; a goal with structure and a clear endpoint where vague exertion become purposeful effort.

All you need to do is input your current level or even your total lifetime XP, and the calculator do the rest (see calculator above). No need to dig through complex tables of numbers; it’ll tell you precisely how many points away you are from next tier and estimate in days (based off average daily activity) just how long until then. It’s far more helpful than staring at a progress bar that appears to stall out as the days creep by. If there’s an exact point deficit, you can better determine whether you want to push yourself now or conserve energy for when a community day event come along.

How to Calculate Your Next Level

So what goes into it? The first thing is understanding the inputs. The tool will ask about your average daily XP; this number can fluctuate based on your game style. For example, a very gift-focused and raid player may see upwards of fifty thousand XP per day whereas a casual player who doesn’t focus heavily on gifts and raids may be averaging around fifteen thousand XP. Again, there’s not one “right” way to play; everyone plays differently at their own speed. Without accounting for the activity profile setting, however, you run the risk of either underestimating how difficult it’ll be to get past a plateau or overestimating your progress.

Not all tiers are created equal Early on leveling up is pretty breezy. Low XP requirement means it doesn’t take long to go up a tier. But the further you get into the game. Past level 40, the numbers begins to balloon out. Going from level 30 to 40 takes millions of points; that’s a number dwarfed by what you’ve gained in first year. It’s a curve that grows faster and faster which makes reaching the endgame feel like something truly worth achieving.

It is not just by grinding furiously for a few days but through consistent play over time. Those gaps between levels are bridged by efficiency multipliers, things that smart players relies on. The clearest example is Lucky Eggs, which double all of your XP for half an hour. This means a flurry of points you’d spend days amassing, especially when used when evolving Pokemon or finishing off friend gift. But this is where smart players shine, it’s less about how many actions you perform. It’s about performing the correct actions at the correct times.

The other benefit is the friendship mechanics. One-hundred-thousand XP is a significant chunk of whatever it is that you’re trying to level up, and it’s awarded by opening a Best Friend gift. That requires time and coordination with others (something many people forget). If, however, you find yourself in a position where you’ve got a group to open gifts with, opening them all at the same time (while you’re inside a Lucky Egg) could of saved you weeks on the grind. It makes socializing more meaningful.

On the page itself, there’s also a nice reference table showing the accumulated XP cost per level. I like having this around because it puts things into perspective. Want to get up to level fifty? Well buddy, it will take more than a hundred and seventy-six million points in all to do so. You’re looking at a long term commitment here, not something you can rush by spending a few weekends playing. It turns into a marathon instead of a sprint.

This isn’t about winning
It’s about playing. It’s about the experience of leveling up, about feeling accomplished as you track your own growth. Random number generators can never give you that. If it’s the thrill of unlocking next feature, or if it’s the pull of reaching the ultimate level, the understanding of where you stand along the way will make each raid, each catch mean something. Each tiny win along the road to mastery puts you closer to your destination. Understanding exactly how far you’ve traveled move you forward.
